It's the return of our Easter eggs! Every year we partner up with ornithologist Dr. Karla Rivera (a bird nerd if you will) to make our eggs imPeckably match the natural color of each species found in the wild. We bet bird mommas would have a hard time picking the right one! Our quail bird eggs contain a fresh made raspberry marshmallow at the center of a Tumaco 73% dark shell.  Bird fact - It seems that Gambel’s quails enjoy hot and dry environments as they call Arizona, Texas and New Mexico their home. These chubby fellas have a distinct ornament on their heads, a black tear-drop plumage which is bigger in males than in females. Males use this and other ornaments to attract females, but to be truly attractive they need an extra ingredient – vitamin A! Before the mating season, males must eat an excess of greens to store enough vitamin A to produce fancy ornaments. The successful males will use not only their looks but their “cow” calls and silly dances to enamor the ladies. Once a female is hooked, she will build the nest and lay up to 20 eggs which she will incubate on her own.
