Antique Primitive Heart Chopper / Scraper Late 19th Century
I just love this unique Heart shaped Chopper that is scarcer then hens teeth to find and very ~sought after~! This is the kind of piece you can sometimes catch a glimpse of in books. Some call this a chopper because of the chamfered edge in the blade and others call it a Scraper. It actually can suit both purposes but it would seem a little arduous to use as a chopper because the vertical handle is in the wrong position, compared to the horizontal handles used on the double blade choppers. This piece has roots stemming from Europe and the question is whether or not these Heart Choppers were ever actually made here. I have never seen a heart shape like this one boasting two little off shoot points located at the top indent of the heart! This is a Smithy made, hand ~ forged piece and is quite heavy. The carbon steel blade has a wonderful heart cut out design in the middle and the two pronounced notched ends that extend upward from the bottom blade used for chopping or scraping. The handl
