Boot Jack with Childs Portrait

Great boot jack offered with a rendition of a darling child’s portrait. This piece was hand carved and dates to the early to mid-19th century. There are some age related cracks on the back that faintly show through on the front just above the ledge as well as another crack on the right side pertaining to the ledge area as shown. A tiny hole located in the front on the left leg area has darkened with age. Minor wood loss to the back left leg near the edge. The contoured sides present slender form and the rich patina resembles a crushed walnut hue. Forged square nails lend stardom to the front ledge while another nail out of the spotlight resides on the left side edge. I reproduced the image of a child wearing a red and white stripped dress outfitted with a black apron. She is holding a basket of posies in her hand while her beloved cat stays within her vicinity. The potted rose bush seems to lend even further color to the dark ground and is in full bloom. I mounted the picture (framed n
