Folk Art Black Cat Hanging Halloween Gourd
It’s not my fault! A witch visited me in my dreams and wanted to punish a mortal for her misbehaving ways so she decided to transform her into a cat! Mysteriously enough when I woke up the next morning there she was hanging out on my shaker peg rack keeping company with child’s black Amish bonnets and a child’s chair! Of course, none of this is true but come Halloween anything is possible! A gourd was my inspiration for this cat creation that I call Esmeralda! Her hand painted face lends personality all her own while her whiskers were hand wrapped using variegated wool and wire. Esmeralda’s emerald green eyes are always exploring her surroundings and seem to follow you wherever you go. She is an old soul that has protected her surroundings from harm including the family residents for centuries! I added poseable ears to the top of her head and secured them in place using wire along with drilling several holes in the gourd that are hidden just below. She is outfitted in a child’
