Redware pottery is a perfect fit for autumn decorating as the beautiful colors lending a deep rust truly delivers splendid autumn flavor in our homes! This next offering will do just that as the color is delicious as well as the slip decoration. The French were making redware pieces at the same time we were and this bowl dates to the 1850 to 1875 period. It may have been made in the Eastern part of France. This footed bowl possesses great character as the form is very appealing including the graduated sides. A pronounced inside rolled lip along with a series of incised circles located on the outside as well as the height provide nice detail and make for a special piece! Some of the glaze appears to have a waterfall effect by cascading downward on the outside areas at random as shown in images 6, 8, 7 & 11.
