About the Artist: Raised in Nome, Alaska, Sonya Kelliher-Combs spent her summers at her family’s camp, working, hunting, and gathering to prepare for the long winters. It was here she learned to listen—to the wisdom of her family, her community, and the rhythms of nature. Through careful observation and the practice of traditional skills like skin sewing, beading, and food preparation, Sonya came to understand her identity as a Woman, Daughter, Sister, Wife, and Artist.
