The 2021 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo follows the house tradition of blending four crus to express the whole territory rather than individual vineyard character. Maria Teresa chose a 48-day submerged cap fermentation to draw out complexity and texture. The wine is stunning: aromas of red forest berry, rose, underbrush, and spice, with candied orange peel and dried flowers adding nuance. The palate reveals dusty elegance with typical Nebbiolo tannins that are ripe, velvety, and broad. Medium-bodied, refreshingly balanced, with hints of chocolate and savory licorice in the finish. The wine offers early approachability while maintaining the structure to age through the 2040s and beyond.
