In 1894, he bought the magnificent De La Pouyage estate on the top of the hill overlooking the world-famous vineyards at the heart of the Grande Champagne region. Four generations later, the owner Pascal J. Fillioux is touring the property on his chestnut mare, Poppy, making sure the grapes are maturing nicely and that the damp cellars are caressing the Spirits to perfection.
