Averna Amaro (1L)
An authentic Sicilian Amaro from 1868. It was in the beginning of the 19th century when the Benedictine monks from Sicily crafted the secret recipe for Averna Amaro. In 1868, one of the monks gifted the secret recipe to Salvatore Averna, a textile merchant. He began making it in his family farmhouse and passed it down to his son, Francesco Averna. Everybody knows royals know a good tipple when they see one (and they’re not shy to consume larger-than-average quantities of it, either) and so, it wasn’t long before the royal coat of arms was bestowed upon Arena with the inscription “Royal Household patent” on the bottle. Today, Averna Amaro is owned by Gruppo Campari but it still tells the authentic story of the Italian island it comes from with its unique aromas and flavors of the Meditarranean herbs that grow on the land.
