Breathtaking barley bomb. James Power was an innkeeper in Dublin. In 1791 he decided to take some of his profits and start his own distillery. Thus, John’s Lane Distillery at Thomas Street was born. The company grew and was very successful, so as soon as he was of age, his son John joined the family business, thus John Power and Son became the official name. They innovated and expanded greatly on their way to becoming the most popular Whiskey sold in Ireland. In fact, POWERS was one of the first distilleries in the world — and the very first in Ireland — to start bottling their own Spirit in 1886. Up until then, Whiskey was sold by the cask.
