Martin 'The Martin' Committee III Alto Saxophone
The Martin Committee III alto sax was during it's time one of the top performing horns on the market. The sound produced is big, crisp, edgy, and has that classic vintage sound collectors and players alike strive to find. The Martin accomplished all this while keeping the horn fairly light in the hands. All Martins were handmade in Elkhart Indiana during the late 50's and this one shows that high level of craftsmanship. Found with a local collector, and consigned by Fleming's this horn is a fun piece of history! The lacquer is at about 60%-70%. The engraving shows common signs of lacquer wear as pictured in photos. The horn does currently play but needs work to sound it's best. There are pads that could use replacing and a few that are not sealing. We are currently selling this historic piece as-is, but at buyers request are able to do a full repair to bring this horn back to playing condition. The neck is not original to the horn, but period appropriate being only a few hundred serial
