The stock Vivid Air piston uses two bleed holes that allow oil to bypass the shim stack throughout the entire compression stroke. This creates uncontrolled oil flow and significantly limits how precisely the damper can be tuned. Those bleed ports become a bottleneck when you’re trying to achieve specific ride characteristics — whether that’s more support, better small-bump sensitivity, or improved  control.
