Peter Margonelli "The Wave"

The late photographer Peter Margonelli was known for his abstracted, painterly-like images.  "The Wave" shown here, illustrates his talent for employing elements of atmosphere and motion to create highly charged, emotional landscapes.  Photograph on archival paper.  Framed and unsigned.   Measurements:29" x 22" Peter Margonelli was a photographer focused on abstracting the relationship between the industry and the natural world. Through various means of reducing his subject’s forms, whether it be the blurring of rain on a windshield or the flattening view of a landscape from above, he drawed attention to patterns and alignments in the contemporary industrial landscape. His images reflect a sense of an emotional landscape and inner world, more in-line with painters like Diebenkon than with a traditional photography practice.
