Prior to the early 1800s, history doesn’t record the use of many pot holders. Most hot-handled pots were moved using large metal hooks. However, by the mid-1800s in the anti-slavery bazaars of Boston, women started using and exhibiting home-made potholders as a nod to the abolitionist movement. Lily Umyn, a seasoned Ukrainian pattern maker (who worked at Marc Jacobs, and other fashion designers) created these Japanese inspired pot holders exclusively for us as a gesture of history acknowledgement. Use and Care: Normal cycle, warm machine wash, please. Product size: 7 1/2" x 5"
