
Jonathan Freemantle
South African born Edinburgh based multidisciplinary artist Jonathan Freemantle has created a series of ink, graphite and oil stick on paper works. Jonathan Freemantle was born in Cape Town in 1978. At 17, he was selected as one of the five students from around the world to study at St Oswald’s Academy in London, an intensive 5 year traditional training/ apprenticeship in drawing, painting and sculpture and geometry. Jonathan has since been involved in a number of projects. He has held solo exhibitions worldwide (London, Cape Town, Amsterdam, Johannesburg & Edinburgh) including a major commission by The Standard Bank Gallery, Johannesburg. In 2002 he set up and directed the painting department of The Art Academy in London. His work has been featured in a variety of publications worldwide, including Wallpaper* Magazine, W Magazine and Monocle. He wrote and illustrated a book, ‘Anatomy made simple for Artists’ published by Arcturus (UK) in 2004. His work is represented in collection
