"Salvia Rosmarinus"  (Cut and Sifted) Rosemary is native to the dry, rocky areas of the Mediterranean, especially along the coast. The genus name Rosmarinus derives from the Latin words "ros" and "marinus" which together translate to “dew of the sea.” Rosemary has been used since the time of the early Greeks and Romans. Dried sprigs of rosemary even showed up in Egyptian tombs from 3,000 B.C. Rosemary was used to treat the Plague, melancholy, gout, epilepsy, arthritis and many other ailments. Today, the herb is still used by many as a tea to treat sore throats, head colds and to freshen bad breath.
