Honesty - Lunaria annua Widely grown for their fragrant purple flowers and papery seed pods, which are used in dried flower arrangements. Also known as silver doll, dollar plant, satin flower, money plant, penny flower, moonwort, and Judas' penny. Great for planting en masse in beds, borders, open woodlands, naturalized areas, or along the edge of shrubbery where pods can catch the sunlight.  Grows 18-36" tall with hairy stems topped with ½” four-petaled purple flowers on branched clusters. Leaves are heart shaped with serrated margins Biennial USDA zones 3-9. Plant grows out first season in preparation to send up a tall flower stalk the next. Blooms late spring to early summer for 2-3 weeks. Prefers dappled sunlight or partial shade, but also succeeds in full sun.Sow outside: In early spring 1-2 weeks after average last frost date for blooms following year. Sow in late summer or fall for blooms the following springSow inside: Not recommended. Does not transplant well. Start 2-4 weeks
