Chicken Processing Workshop
Saturday September 14, 2024: 9am-1pm Learn all about our pasture-raised broiler chickens (meat) operation at Forrest Green Farm. Spend the morning with Rob as he shows how to process chickens. You will take home a chicken you helped process! 🍗 Breed selection 🍗 How to know when your birds are the correct size to process 🍗 Processing equipment, procedures, packaging and storage (you will take home a chicken you helped process) 🍗 How to cut up a whole chicken for parts 🍗 How to package chicken parts 🍗 Record keeping for regulations and profitability 🍗 Handout with equipment recommendations Children over the age of 12 are welcome to participate, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. *This class will need to be held outdoors/in the barn. Participants need to be prepared for seasonal weather elements. This workshop is non-refundable.
