Armed to the teeth, booted and spurred and shrouded in the broad-brimmed sombrero, a distinctive badge of his calling, the American cowboy’s apparel proclaimed the kind of man he was. A skilled cowboy of the wild west was courageous, alert and able to endure many unforeseen circumstances that would arise when out on the range. Whether rounding up cattle or protecting the homesteaders from ruffians, the cowboy’s work was never done.
