The Barbarella Space Oddity Set
THE BARBARELLA SPACE ODDITY SET was designed and constructed by Fort Lonesome's head tailor, Bekah DuBose, for Fort Lonesome's Haus of Shiny Shit art show that was held in February of 2020 at Preacher Gallery in Austin, Texas. The set features a flowing design using an antiqued silver lamé, edged with silk wool piping in a delicate ice blue on a rose-colored silk wool base. A note from the designer: "One half Barbarella goes West and one half I AM the disco ball. This set is a playful take on the metallic Lasso suits of the 1950/60s and the gabardine zipper front jackets of the 1940s, both of which are vintage favorites of mine. For the yokes and piping details, I wanted to go with something that felt water-like—wavy and winding but still very much Western. The silver lamé and the rose pink pair so well, but the ice blue piping really pulls everything together."
