Saurornitholestes, meaning "lizard-bird thief," is a genus of carnivorous dromaeosaurid theropod dinosaur from the late Cretaceous period, found in Alberta, Montana, and New Mexico. It includes two species: Saurornitholestes langstoni, identified in 1978, and Saurornitholestes sullivani, discovered in 2015. This small, bipedal predator was characterized by a sickle-shaped claw on its foot. Like other dromaeosaurids, Saurornitholestes had a long, curved, blade-like claw on its second toe. It was more long-legged and lightly built compared to relatives such as Velociraptor and Dromaeosaurus.
