Elrathia Kingii and Peronopsis interstricta Trilobite Specimen   This stunning Elrathia kingii and Peronopsis interstricta trilobite is a remarkable fossil from the Middle Cambrian period, over 500 million years ago. Elrathia trilobites are well-known for their iconic, streamlined shape and well-defined body segments, making them one of the most recognizable trilobite species.   Trilobites like Elrathia kingii thrived in the warm, shallow seas that covered much of North America during the Cambrian period. As early arthropods, they were among the first creatures to develop complex eyes and a hard exoskeleton, both key features in their survival and evolution. The Cambrian is often referred to as the "Cambrian Explosion" because of the rapid diversification of life forms that occurred during this time.  Peronopsis interstricta was a small blind trilobite approximately 3/8" fully grown had only two thoracic segments nearly equal in size. It was able to fold over into a clam-shaped ball to protect itself from danger.  Multiple specimens measure approximately 0.2" - 0.4" in length, while the surrounding matrix is 3.5" x 3" x 1", providing an ideal presentation of this ancient creature. Perfect for fossil collectors, educators, or anyone with a passion for prehistoric life.   Each fossil from Fossil Oasis comes with a guarantee of authenticity, accompanied by an information card featuring a QR code linking to relevant studies.
