With today's edition, The Luxembourg Palace, Paris, 1900, we take you from the 7th arrondissement to the 6th, to show you the resplendent grounds of the Luxembourg Palace and its gardens. Commissioned in 1615 by Marie de Medicis, the mother of King Louis XIII, to be built in the style of Pitti Palace from her native Florence, the palace has been home to many royals, and has served as the seat for the French Senate since 1958. Its gardens, meanwhile, have long seen the casual stroller, sitter and sun-soaker, depicted here dressed in the fashions of the day.
