Jasper, Tiger Tumbled Stones
Tiger Jasper is also known as Tiger Iron. Although this popular stone is often grouped in the Jasper family, it is only partially composed of a true Jasper. Tiger Jasper tumbled stones contain layers of shimmering Golden Tiger’s Eye, metallic grey Hematite and deep Red Jasper. These three contrasting colors combine to create a beautiful stone that is as striking as it is weighty. This beautiful stone was formed by Iron-bearing Quartz — Tiger Eye and Jasper — replacing the mineral Crocidolite. Both Tiger Iron and Tiger Jasper are also sometimes referred to as Mugglestone. Our Mugglestone tumbled stones tend to have a heavier percentage of Red Jasper than the traditional Tiger Eye or Tiger Jasper. And although the name Mugglestone might excite some Harry Potter fans, it is thought that the name actually derived from "mucklestone," found in a place named "Moclestone" in what is now Great Britain.
