I loved how it worked out for this shot! This particular evening it was Richard Carpenter's Birthday. Karen led the audience in singing "Happy Birthday" as she presented him with a cake.  Steve Martin opened for The Carpenters that night. Their show kind of came off like a TV variety show from that era. ...and Karen's voice was unbelievable!!
