AJ Davila

Best-known as the bassist and lead singer with Puerto Rican garage rockers Davila 666, AJ Davila stepped out as a solo artist in 2014 with his debut album, the tough, rollicking, and stylistically broad Terror Amor. Following extensive international touring in support of Davila 666's 2011 album Tan Bajo, the group went on hiatus, and in October 2012 Davila began work on his solo project. Recording most of the material in his home studio (where he also cut many of Davila 666's releases), Terror Amor found him expanding his boundaries from straightforward garage punk into tunes inspired by classic R&B, girl group sounds, contemporary pop, and vintage glam rock. Featuring collaborations with Cole Alexander of the Black Lips, Sergio Rotman of Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Alex Anwandter of Teleradio Donoso, Fofé Abreu of Circo, and Davila 666 bandmate Johnny Otis Davila, Terror Amor was released in February 2014 through Nacional Records. A second album, Beibi, followed later the same year on now-defunct Burger Records.
