CBS 12AX7's

CBS 12AX7's fly under the radar compared to the popular tubes brands like RCA, Mullard and Telefunken but overlooking them is a mistake. What makes this tube special is its unique mixture of warmth and tightness, tonally speaking of course... which very few tubes have. Typically, the warmer you get in tone, the more you sacrifice tightness, punchiness and responsiveness. This is partially what makes Mullard tubes so special for instance, is that Mullard tubes are tight and warm at the same time. Something we can really not say about Telefunken or RCA tubes, which both might be a tad warmer sounding than a CBS tube but on the other hand are also less responsive, tight and punchy.  For those who have tried, CBS tubes leave few unsatisfied and are worthy of any V1 position.  Need help deciding what tubes are best for you?
