It was written by a Russian composer, Modest Mussorgsky (1839 – 1881) from the romantic era. "The Great Gate of Kiev" is the last movement. Even though "Pictures at an Exhibition" was written for the piano, it is also well-known for various instrumentations arranged by different arrangers.
