Purple Tree Collard

Product Description: When growing a Purple Tree Collard it would be hard to be out of nutrient dense food!  This plant grows up to 6 feet tall and wide if you let it go wild.  This is a perennial, flowering in winter or spring depending where you live.  Hummingbirds love the flowers!   Grow it in full sun or part shade in well-drained soil.  Keep soil moist.  Once established it will just keep growing.  Can be grown in ground or container. For warmer climates with temperature in the high 90s to 100+F the Green Tree Collard will perform better.  Here in zone 10 the purple and green variety grow well. What's Edible? Leaves, flowers and tender stems are edible raw or cooked.  Stems can be fibrous so I prefer to juice them.  Leaves are delicious cooked, in stir fry, omelette, dehydrated or oven roasted chips, soups, smoothies, pickled or fermented (think sauerkraut), use these large leaves as a warp!
