Rhinestone Lattice fabric tessellation

The inspiration from this piece came from an online origami tessellation generator. It gave me a 9-fold rotationally symmetric, isoarea pattern, which I promptly adapted to 6-fold symmetry with elements staying on one side. This Rhinestone Lattice smocking piece is an adaptation of that 6-fold rotationally symmetric design. See if you can find the points of 6-fold, 3-fold, and 2-fold rotational symmetry in the pattern! This piece is framed in an open, 2" deep shadow box with a built-in hanging mechanism on the back. The fabric tessellation within was made from a single sheet of fabric, and stitched into shape by hand. This is a one-of-a-kind original piece by Gathering Folds and was made in 2020.
