Please Contact the Artist Built in 1899 and remodeled over the years this building served until just recently as the Thacher School dining hall in Ojai, California. It has also served as a dormitory, a faculty apartment, the school post office and still serves as the main school administrative offices. A photo taken in 1911 shows the building and the same pepper tree in this painting that might still be there. In 1969 physics professor Bob Chesley, also a former Thacher student, directed us to the original dining hall windows to actually see and understand the “viscosity” of glass.
