Gem of the Day is pleased to present an original Diamond Horseshoe Coin Ring design, created and designed by one of our clients and offered here in limited quantities with the designer's permission and approval. The coin itself is the extremely rare Quarter Eagle with the Indian Head Design, minted only from 1908 until 1915 and then minted once again from 1925 until the final mintage in 1929. Commonly called the "Quarter Eagle" it had a $2.50 denomination and was one of the most widely used gold coins ever minted by the US Mint until all gold coins were withdrawn from circulation in the 1930's. This coin has diameter is 18 millimeters, slightly larger than today's 1/10th ounce gold bullion coin). With the addition of the Diamond Horseshoe, the full ring has a diameter of 27 millimeters, about 1 1/4 inches. The Indian Head coin is quite rare and very valuable. It is 90% pure gold and weighs 1/8 ounce. The coin is recessed into the ring to protect it from wear or accidental damage
