"Courage of the Army" Roman Empire Coin Necklace

This Late Roman Empire coin dates to the reign of the Emperor Constantius II, son and successor of Constantine the Great. The small copper follis (a Late Empire coin of little monetary value) has been converted into a necklace. The coin's obverse depicts Constantius II as a helmet-wearing, right-facing bust. The legend reads "CONSTANTIVS AVG" which translates to "Emperor Constantius". The coin's reverse depicts a Roman standard with two captives seated on the ground to either side. The coin's edge is inscribed "VIRTVS EXERCIT" which translates to "Courage of the Army". The standard reads "VOT" and "XX", with "SF" above the heads of the captives, translating to "Prayers for 20 Years of Rule". This coin was in circulation in the 350s A.D.
