Sculptural Mexican Modernist Earrings Signed Antonio
Fabulous Mexican Modernist earrings from Antonio Pineda. These collectible earrings are large sculptural triangles crafted in sterling silver. The triangle's sides are angled to create a three-dimensional shadowbox effect. Small shapes (a sphere and a bar) are positioned within the triangle; light and shadow play with the forms. The triangles are suspended from decorative tops: a flat silver triangle folds over the top vertex. These earrings are screw-backs, typical of the era. The back of one earring top bears the maker's mark Pineda began using in 1953, and the other is marked "925" with Mexico's Eagle 1 mark.
