Sterling & Marcasite Sailfish Brooch with Enameled Fins

You might think this swordfish brooch is fabulous, but you'd be wrong ... because he's a sailfish! He is certainly fabulous, though. A sailfish has a large sail-like dorsal fin, while a swordfish has a long, sloping dorsal fin. Who knew? This sterling silver sailfish is encrusted in glittering marcasites, with blue-enameled fins and a bright red cabochon gem eye. He really is a gorgeous creature. The brooch fastens with a secure rollover clasp. Circa 1930. Details.....The brooch measures 2.10" by .88". In Very Good Vintage Condition.
