Michel Guignier's La Bonne Pioche is labeled with the seemingly generic Beaujolais Village appellation though it is composed entirely of grapes from his home vineyard in the village of Vauxrenard.  This cuvée tends to be a bit more buoyant and fruity but never without freshness as the vines sit at nearly 500m above sea level allowing for more even ripening. A juicy fruit forward expression of Gamay Michel Guignier is one of the legends of Beaujolais natural winemaking. He is famous for his holistic biodynamic farming which includes a small herd of Charolais cows whose manure, along with the previous vintage's must, goes into carefully prepared compost. At 63, he has been in the Beaujolais farming for 40 years.  He was taught the 'chemical approach' though after beginning to question the polluting effects of glyphosates in the 90s he went organic in 2000 and quickly ended up at biodynamics.
