Walrus

Walruses are highly recognizable large marine mammals that inhabit the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions of the planet. Individuals may develop tusks up to three feet in length, which are in fact elongated canine teeth. Additionally, they feature a thick layer of blubber, aiding in thermoregulation, as well as distinct vocalizations such as grunts, barks, whistles, and clicks. These animals are a key element of Arctic ecosystems, both as a food source for predators and a cultural resource for local indigenous populations. Unfortunately, their numbers are jeopardized by manmade disruptions and climate change, so conservation efforts are essential for their preservation.
