Phase 7 Two Weeks to Operational Tracking- The Proximity Alert
Online Class - Phase VII: The Proximity AlertThis course is designed to teach the trailing/ tracking handler how to read the dogs proximity alerts to the subjects location from a variety of distances. Live human scent pools create the alert and this scent picture is often the last thing the dog has before a trail is lost. Why? Because if you do not train for aged scent pools at the end of your track, it can send the dog into a condition Jeff's calls "chasing blown odor". It is very common for some very high drive dogs to chase blown human odor for hundreds of meters away from the subject. The proximity alert also keeps dog teams safe from potential conflict with armed suspects. Learning how to read the alert may easily save a handler or team members lives. This is important information for SAR handlers as well. Not everyone wants to be found safely. Participants who cannot attend due to unforeseen circumstances may take a future course at no additional charge. All Tracking courses ar
