Description:  A rare antique miniature molded and glazed redware figure of a woman. The woman is holding a broom in one hand while resting her other hand on her side. She is wearing a bonnet, a scarf and an apron. This redware figure is decorated with manganese slip highlights throughout. It is also decorated with copper slip at the base. Finally, the piece is covered with a lead glaze to give it a very fine and shiny look. This was probably a child's toy and it is a wonder that it is still in one piece. We have been collecting redware for a long time and we have never seen something like that. The piece has beautiful details such as the straw on the broom, the ruffles in the dress, the decoration on the scarf, the details of her fingers, the details in her face, and the general details of her clothing.  The piece, which is in great shape, has a wonderful form and is of a nice size. Please view photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Mid to late 1800s. Origin: Prob
