Where The Heart Is (2022)
Signed Giclee Print and Gold Ink Hand Embellishment Framed 27" H x 21" W Artist Reflection Statement: After returning from another trip out west, I felt compelled to paint one of my first full bodied images. I’ve always been fond of painting up-close portraits as I adore painting the eyes and all extraneous details. Taking a step back has always been a challenge for me, as I felt I wasn’t skilled enough to get the level of detail I would have liked in a full body pose. However, for this piece, I felt I was ready. Some of the most important moments in my life are travel based memories. I have learned so much from these experiences about the land we live on and the people who have dwelled on these lands for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. My heart always feels at home in the mountains, but my eyes and body love the quiet solstice of the desert. Yet again, we see a duality here. The victrola was my play on "Dali-esque" symbolism.
