About St Benedict Pocket Saint St. Benedict, a man with a simple life philosophy, had a deep relationship with Christ - even through the many challenges that he faced.  After being faced with temptation, Benedict retreated to the solitude of a cave for 3 years where he was tempted by the devil.  Later, Benedict founded religious communities centered around his life's motto -Ora et Labora (Pray & Work).
