About St Dymphna Pocket Saint St. Dymphna was the daughter of a Christian woman and an Irish king.  After her mother died, her father became unwell and his mental state severally declined - At the urgings of his advisors, he agreed to remarry and wished to marry his daughter because of her strong resemblance to her mother.  After fleeing to Belgium with her confessor & confidant, the king caught up to them and had them both killed for her refusal.  St. Dymphna is the patron saint of those suffering from mental illnesses after several individuals who suffered from mental afflictions were cured after passing the area where she had been killed shortly after her death.  St. Dymphna is well loved, not only for her bravery & intercessions, but also because of her deep love and devotion to Christ.
