About St Patrick Pocket Saint St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland after evangelizing and bringing Christianity to the Irish.  After being kidnapped at sea, Patrick was sold into slavery as a shepherd.  Upon escaping, St. Patrick returned to Ireland where he later became the Bishop of Ireland.  According to legend, Patrick used a shamrock to teach people about the Trinity: One God in Three Persons.
