The warm summer night air is sticky on your skin as you longingly look at the inviting lagoon before you. Testing the water with a single, manicured toe, you then sit on the moist ground and dip your feet in. The water is cool and goosebumps rise on your skin in anticipation of the plunge below the surface that is about to come. You slide in and instantly the shock of the water temperature is both refreshing and exhilarating. As you swim out to the deeper waters, you think you see movement ahead. Probably just a fish jumping at a bug, you imagine. You reach the middle, where the water is deepest. It's calm. As you float on your back, relaxing your body to enjoy the serenity of the moment, you feel something brush your leg. You're startled, but you quickly convince yourself it was only a fish and relax back into your float. That was your mistake, because faster than a blink, a webbed hand, covered in scales and slick with slime, grabs you by the throat and pulls you under, never to be h
