The 102nd Infantry Division is a historic infantry division of the United States Army. Activated on November 15, 1942, during World War II, it was one of the first U.S. divisions to see combat in Europe. Known as the "Ozark" or "Arkansas" Division due to its original recruits being primarily from Arkansas and neighboring states, it served under the Third Army of General George S. Patton Jr. during the Rhineland and Central European campaigns. Notable battles in which the division participated include the Battle of the Bulge and the liberation of Nordhausen concentration camp. The 102nd Infantry Division was deactivated on August 15, 1946, after World War II, but was reorganized and redesignated multiple times over the years. Today, its legacy is preserved by the 102nd Infantry Division (M) Association, a veterans' organization dedicated to preserving the division's history and honoring its members.
