MOC From Designer: brick_squadron Introduction To MOCs: The P-51 Mustang almost needs no introduction. Designed by North American Aviation in response to a British purchasing request, the P-51 went on to become one of the most famous and beloved fighter designs in history. The original models were equipped with an Allison V-1710 however by the B and C model, it was equipped with the Rolls-Royce Merlin and gave it the performance the USAAF was looking for at high altitudes. Equipped with drop tanks it was able to escort friendly bombers to and from their targets deep within the Reich and in the Pacific. By the end of the war, the Mustang laid claim to 4,950 enemy aircraft destroyed and continued its use well into the Korean War as a fighter-bomber. This design reflects aircraft flown by the 352nd Fighter Group or "Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney". This model is almost exactly 1/26 scale and features function prop, gear, and flaps!
