MOC-91262 White Pass & Yukon 70 Class
MOC from designer: Tweetsie12 Introduction to MOCs: The White Pass & Yukon 70 Class were a series of 4 2-8-2 Mikados built between 1938 and 1947. Numbered 70-73, these locomotives worked the White Pass Region well, and would be the last steam locomotives to be retired from the White Pass, with the last of them going in 1964. Of the 4 locomotives, 3 have been preserved. #70, built in 1938 was retired in 1963 and put into storage for about 14 years, before being purchased by Jack & Peter Herschend in 1977, and shipped to Silver Dollar City Tennessee in Pigeon Forge, TN. The park would later become Dollywood, where the engine currently operates as "Cinderella."#71, built in 1939, essentially followed the same path as 70. She is also at Dollywood, but in storage, awaiting restoration.#72, built in 1947, was scrapped in the late 1960's following a roundhouse fire.#73, built in 1947, was restored by the White Pass & Yukon to run excursion trains.
