Orange Head Roaches (Eublaberus posticus)
Small = 1/4″-3/8″, Medium = 3/8″-3/4″, Large = 3/4″ and up Larger and meatier than Dubia but smaller and less chitinous than Madagascar Hissers, Orange Heads (Eublaberus prosticus) are perfect for satisfying big, hungry omnivores and insectivores who never seem satisfied! Loved by larger bearded dragons, tegus and other lizards as well as tarantulas, centipedes and many other animals. Same length categories as Dubia, but chunkier and meatier Deep orange/maroon coloring and faster movement encourages reluctant eaters Hardier and faster-growing and than Dubia Prefer to eat a little more protein than other species, so this nutrient is passed onto whatever eats it. If growing colonies, add meat or other proteins to the usual diet of fresh veggies or roach chow. Smaller individuals can climb smooth surfaces, but a rim of petroleum jelly around the inner rim of the enclosure should keep them confined. Adults are prone to wing biting of conspecifics, but this is only a cosmetic issue.
