Artist: Ragan, Leslie Size (in): 40.675” x 26.675” Size (cm): 103.3 x 67.8Condition: BLinen backed: Yes  This spectacular poster celebrating the opening of the new Union Terminal building in Cleveland is one of several posters created for the New York Central Railroad by the artist Leslie Ragan (1897-1972).  For this poster Ragan renders a magnificent Art Deco style image of Cleveland’s new Union Terminal building which, at the time the construction was completed in 1928, was the tallest building in North America outside of New York City. Construction of the Union Terminal was a massive undertaking which began in 1922 and involved the demolition of over 2,000 buildings in downtown Cleveland in what would be the second largest excavation project in the world after the Panama Canal.   The building still exists today as part of Tower City Center in Cleveland’s Public Square.  The lower right corner indicates this poster was printed by the Latham Litho. & Ptg.
