Burbank under the title YOUNG SALTS. This is a companion poster to another poster created by Burbank around this time period titled OLD SALTS. The artwork for the Old Salts poster was based on a famous photograph taken aboard the US Navy steam sloop-of-war USS Mohican in 1888 by Assistant Surgeon Hervey W. Whitaker titled “The Old Navy” or “The Old Salts of the Square Rigger Navy”. Text on this Young Salts poster mentions that in the modern American navy of 1934 steel ships had replaced wooden and steam had replaced sail emphasizing modernization of the US Navy.
